My first Typewriter!

This was a little bit ago, now, but I thought it might be good to get started with my first manual Typewriter. I found it on Facebook Marketplace, listed as an Olympia SM-9 for 150. I was excited to start my collection and wanted nothing more than to just have a machine in my hands. But I managed to negotiate the price down to 130. I went to the seller's house and tested to make sure it worked. We chatted for a short minute about the Typewriter, and I gave her money, and left with the machine. Well, it turns out, the Machine was actually an Olympia SM-8. Slight difference, but still great! and still my favorite machine. Unfortunately, when I was trying to clean it, I took the typing scale off from the back to make room to reach inside, and I lost one of the brackets that holds it in place. :/

A New Beginning!

I thought about making my first post be on New Year's Day. Just scheduling it to automatically post on that day. But I just don't feel like waiting. So here we are. December 27th 2025 at 05:13 in the morning. It kind of seems like I might be really doing this whole Typewriter thing. So I guess I better start documenting my journey, huh? This is my first ever blog, so like.... bear with me. I've been fascinated with mechanical machines since as long as I can remember. Things that whirr, click, ding or tick. Mechanical watches, clock movements, pinball machines, player pianos, and of course typewriters. The machines that people used to make back in the day had completely different feel to them than those that are made today. Nowadays, it's all streamlined, and minimalistic. Computer chips, glass and plastic. Nothing to really get your hands on. Not to mention everything is built to be disposable! Such a waste! But back in the day, when things were built to last.
